Just some information for Xpan users and the repair of the camera.
The Xpan automatically loads film, you open the back, pull out the tip of the film to the indicator on the body, snap shut the back, and the camera winds out the entire roll. As shots are taken, the film is wound back into the film spool. When complete, the camera winds the film entirely into the spool. The whole operation is motorised.
A fault can develop where it would seem that the cogs which catch the film on the winding mechanism wear to the point where it cant wind in the film. This happened to me in the middle of the Cairngorms in the Spring. Theres no manual override and basically it renders the camera unusable.
I contacted Hasselblad UK and they still support Xpan repairs. I sent the camera in, they had to order the parts in from the factory in Sweden, the camera was repaired and I had it back in 3 weeks. The 'film spool' was replaced.
Costly at around £230, but with the value of these cameras, certainly better than finding another.
Worth bearing in mind if anyone else has this problem.
