I'm looking to get a bunch of photos printed and famed as my walls are way too empty. The images will range from friends and family to cars and wildlife. Sizes will range from typical post card upto A3.

Would it be better to have them printed in matt or gloss?

:)

It's only a personal thing, but I steer clear of gloss myself... too many reflections, although they can give the appearance of more sharpness. Satin finish might be the best bet; the best of both worlds?

matt for me.

I have never seen a "pro" print/artistic print in a gallery with a gloss finnish. and I go to about 2 photography exhibitions a week here in london!

its mainly to do with reflections - galleries need heavy lighting and if you have gloss, then your just going to see yourself and a white orb instead of a photo!

also, having them done in matt makes the images *slightly* easyer to handle, you don't get fingerprints on them so easily...

If it's going behind glass definately matt, you will get enough reflections in the glass without adding more in the picture.

:agree: but it is a personal choice :thumbs:

Matt for me :plusone::agree:

Matt with a satin laminate over the top for me... class!

Satin or Lustre, whatever you want to call it. Having said that if you are ordering off of photobox etc. then you probably don't have that choice I think.

Where are you getting them printed, as certain places are much cheaper than others (photobox for small images but Loxley for larger images (by quite a long margin for some of the bigger stuff)).

I've not picked a printer yet. Recommendations?

There are a couple of local printers I'm going to check out out think I'd prefer an online solution.

Oakey - It's nice to be on here :) Been so busy for the last few Months I've hardly had time to surf lol.

:plusone: for lustre from me.

Satin Matt all the way for me when printing at home! I just love its finish.

When I print through loxley I go for Lustre
