well as im suffering with a tore intestine muscle i havnt been out much, but really wanted to start the 52 so my partner drove me down to the local country park so i could get a pic to post.

we pulled up in the car and i saw this old ww2 hospital which used to accomodate injured ww2 officers ( so i was told ).

it was taken from the passenger seat in our car as i cant walk to well at the moment, so it was all abit rushed, but as i said i wanted to get something to post here
anyway i tried to sharpen ect not sure if its worked ( it looks better to me )

any how here it is all c+c welcome

looking at it on this screen it looks as though it is leaning but i did have me chair nearly horizontal lol

Well done on getting out whilst not well Mat, thats dedication

I like the idea, it seems a little central though, I would have like more to the left and less to the right, for a reversed L composition

does look like it leans a little,

thanks mate

it is also very noisy but i dont know how to clear that up ive tried but it doesnt work for me

mat

lol

yeah i just looked and its still set on it, damn i may have another go at that then, should it be 100 in the sun

how did you know what i used lol

hey mat. good on you for getting out! Im quite local to you, as i live in sholing! :) looks like you managed to get the shot in on a nice day, was it today or yesterday? lol

lus i must say that although i didnt get many shots today due to weather, i dd however enjoy taking the pics of the football and am looking forward to next week

Nice catch to get both 12's in the shot. I would suggest lowering the saturation to reduce the brightness of the flag, other than that it's a good photo given the lighting conditions. Looking forward to your Style photo.

went to portsmouth and got a picture of the spinnaker tower

i like the style of the tower so thought it was ideal for this weeks theme

spinnakertower.jpg

c&c welcome of course

Superb! The blue sky really sets it off nicely. Next time we're in the area I must go and get some photos of this myself.

thanks guys

didnt have much time as the parking meter was up and when i looked at the tower it was under a blue sky, but the clouds were in a complete circle around it so i just grabbed the shot bfore heading home

Mat that shot for week 3 is great, the sky looks perfect. I think you've really captured the tower beautifully, well done

gotta agree with other have said above!
LOVE this shot! The sky is lovely and the white is spot on!!

Well done

ok i really wanted to get some nice shots of the ark royal today when i was onboard but in all the excitement totally forgot

obviously as it was OPEN to the public that was perfect for this weeks theme

anyway here it is

Crikey that was quick. Think the open is a little loosely linked, however, as I look at the image (on phone) it looks good. Is it a composite / hdr?

It looks like it may have a few halos around the people in the foreground?

For next week, have a few days thinking about the theme.... :) p.s how did you find that sun? Lol

Hi Mat

not sure how I missed your week 2 shot....beautiful .Great colors & shadows

Quick off the mark with week 4 ! Must admit I'm finding the theme difficult but like your take on it - Open day at the Ark . The only thing I might have done was cropped a little to lose the shadows & the people walking on the right .That may have put the focus ('scuse the pun) more on the people walking up the gangplank & through the open door . Sky looks really great as well

Look forward to seeing your next 48

Week 1: unfortunate that you shot the side of the church thats completely in shadow :/, makes the image a bit lifeless for me

Week 2: nice use of perspective, although the image seems a little soft

Week 3: great image, best so far! nice composition and great colours

Week 4: nice use of hdr, although there are some halos visible, it's not overly distracting

Week 3 is so beautiful, the white building looks so pristine and clean ! I love the angle too and the colour of the sky is spot on :)

Week 4 is just a perfect shot imo. Perfect sky, perfect colours and the people are positioned perfectly in the shot !

Good luck with the rest of your 52 :)

Some great pics here - wish I'd seen it sooner.

Week 1 - nice shot, I like it, and you've exposed the sky nicely. Unfortunately that means the building is underexposed - you could probably bring it up in PP. Does look like it's leaning a little.

Week 2 - an ok shot with a interesting composition with the two No.12s. A bit more action would have been good.

Week 3 - fantastic image - I really like this. Wonderful composition and shooting angle. The white and blue work very well together. Perhaps slightly overexposed. I feel your copyright logo is a bit too prominent and distracting.

Week 4 - a great sky and the ship is good. But, the lower right of the pic doesn't add much. Nicely exposed and pretty sharp. Would it have been possible to get a different shooting position?

Great set of pics:thumbs:

thanks for all the reply's guys i do agree about the halo and im gonna crop it tonight to focus more on the gang plank.

i dont think that it was to quick of the mark or not really related to OPEN,
last week the ship was closed to all public and it is also closed to public now

but yesterday and saturday was the only day it was open to the public, so i think its a perfect idea for open, cause lets face it trying to get on there when its closed to public could be abit dodgy imo

I didn't mean to offend you if I have with my comment Mat. All I meant was, you wouldn't necessarily be able to look at the photo and think or find open as a theme, that's all. With comments beside it, you see what the photo is about.

Good work though! You can relax till Saturday now!

ok maybe i should explain

i didnt mean for my reply to sound harsh, reading it back i can see how it does a little, but in all honesty i did not mean it to sound like that.

i was just trying to explain why i thought it suited the theme open.
i know everyone would interpret things differently.

so if my post sounded abit like i was pee'd of and havin a moan i do appologise as it was not in anyway intended

My first thought of the pic is not "Open" however it def fits in with the theme... It just does not shout it. I remeber going on this ship when it was in a local dockyard and I was about 12! The one thing I find really striking is how all the pannels look beveled... almost bashed or dented in! The image is too saturated and blue for me... the real colour is grey not blue! It seems a bit oversharpened too? Could you not shoot looking down the bow of the ship... I tend to think it always makes a better shot looking toward the stern rather than the bow.

i did try and get a shot from the bow down but wasnt allowed that far up so decided to try from this angle.

as for the panels looking dented, i used a filter in ps and adjust it a little to make it look that way, the reason behind hat was i wanted it to look battered and bruised as its being scrapped so i thought it would suit the image.
it does look blue and the reason is because i love blue lol

mat
p.s i will upload the original so you can see the difference

original is above this post

#4, how do you spell tenuous? ;) Possible shot would have been people entering the open door (?) on the top of the gangplank?

HDR is a bit, how they say, over cooked for me.

Cheers.

Hi Matt

much prefer you're cropped shot:thumbs:

Be a shame to see the old girl scrapped ,went to see her many many years ago ( dragged round by parents) & really didn't appreciate what I was seeing back then as too young.

I even like the blue tinge ,may not be her real color but suits her & works in the shot :)
