Today is our 30th anniversary and my wife bought me "Mastering Digital Photography" by Michael Freeman. It seems packed with useful information and I'm sure it's going to prove very handy for years to come.

Does anyone else own this book?

No

But I do own a couple of other books by Michael Freeman
The Photographers Eye and perfect Exposure.

They are both very good in depth books. It seems that most photography books are aimed at beginners and it is rare to find one that goes much beyond this. Perhaps because beginners are the biggest market for buying photography books.

Anyway when I first bought A photographers Eye I did not finish it as I was not taking it all in, but more recently have re-read the book and found it of great value.

They are not quick reads but as you say, will be handy for years to come.

Happy anniversary. Coincidentally today is also my anniversary but only my 6th.

Books about technique - you have to take them as you find them. I'd find it hard to recommend any without having a deep knowledge of the intended reader & their intention.

Books come in so many flavours, that I think it's how they synchronise with your own personality that matters & allows them to be useful.
