Hello,

Has anybody here dealt with "Binoculars UK Ltd" trading on Ebay as "scopes-uk"?
I'm after a Marumi 77mm Super DHG C-PL, this appears to be a good price, next one is Clifton Cameras at £102 delivered.

Marumi 77mm C-PL

Any thoughts? :help:

Thanks.

I bought that exact filter from them. Service was speedy and as far as I can tell it seems legit - good build, finish etc.. However, I'm not over-excited by the filter. I know it scored highly in the Lenstip CPL Review, but I find it gives a cool colour cast and I prefer the Hoya Pro-1 range. That's what I had previously, but when I broke mine I thought I'd try the Marumi. Next time it'll be back to Hoya for me.

Thanks for the reply and the link.

Is the colour cast easy to correct in Photoshop(4)? I always shoot in raw, is it just a matter of raising the temperature slightly?

The reviews I've read on Hoya filters suggest they're difficult to clean and I can't justify the price of a Hoya HD 77mm.

The colour cast should be correctable, simply with a white balane adjustment, which as you say is easy with raw. I just don't like the idea of filters doing things to my images that are nether expected nor desired. Why does it cause the cast? Why didn't they design/fabricate a filter that does not produce the cast? What else might it be doing to my image that I have not yet noticed? It just causes a nagging doubt.

Hoyas perhaps are difficult to clean, but I've never had anything else to compare to, apart from the Marumi which I have yet to need to clean. I rarely need to clean my filters or my kit. Lens hoods do a pretty good job of keeping my lenses clean and I so rarely use filters that it is not a big deal if they need an occasional wipe/polish. I'd rather put up with a little cleaning effort if it means superior IQ.

Hoya 77mm cpl slim fit from Surrey Photography.... Same size/thickness as a B+W 77mm f-pro £49.99 delivered ....

I've gone with the Marumi for now, just couldn't justify the "normal" price for a Hoya HD. CameraKing have the Hoya at a cheap price on Amazon but didn't want to take a chance with it being "non-original"! ;)

Got a Marumi lens protector as well to keep the elements off the lens.

Thanks for all the replies.
