sorry cant seem to add my photo directly from the pc?
thought we used to be able to do that?
You need to host the image on the internet, either on your gallery here, or Photobucket, Picassa, Image Shack or Flickr, then put the link in your post.
As i doubt that a mark on your lens element would show up on an image, I would suggest that it is more likely to be dust on the sensor, but I could be wrong.
Almost certainly. No dust on or in the lens is visible as a mark on the image.
If it's sensor dust, it will only be really noticeable on areas of plain light tone, such as a sky, and only at high f/numbers.

Hi I am trying to do it through photobucket as I have an old account although that is not showing the file?
Just point the camera at a plain wall, on aperture priority, with a high f/number like f/16, and take a snap. Don't worry about any other settings, let the camera do that. If it's sensor dust, you'll see the mark.
Now do the same at say f/5.6, and you may still see it, but only just. Then try lowest f/number and it will disappear unless it something big. Then fit another lens if you have one - the mark/s will still be there.
Don't worry about it unless it spoils pictures. Most of the time it's unnoticeable, or many cameras have a dust removal option in the menus, or you can clone it out in post processing very easily.
All camera get some sensor dust, even if you never remove the lens, as air gets sucked in when you zoom. When it gets bad, clean the sensor - not hard, but another subject. Plenty of threads about that here.
I am sorry that I didnt make this clear it is just with this one lens, and not any other? the pictures that is has ruined is at around F20.
Also the Sensor cleaner does not seem to work? to clear this?
thanks
mate

It sounds as if your sensor needs a proper clean, the inbuilt sensor can only shift stuff that can be shaken off, anything that's stuck there will necessitate a wet clean.
To try and to put things into perspective with regard as to why it's not the the lens, have a look here - if that doesn't show up then you can guarantee a tiny speck of dust won't ether.....![]()
i might be being silly but, photo's on another lens dont have any marks or anything on the photos taken on another lens. it is in the same place with the one lens every time.

i would have thought if it was on the sensor that the light section would show on both lenses?
thanks

TCR4x4 said:Ok, got the pic. Couple of questions..
What lens is it
Does the lens in question have a filter on it?
Its most definately not sensor dust. Looks much more like lens flare or some crap on a filter causing reflections.
If the lens has a filter, take it off and try again, and also dont shoot at f/20 in a studio.. There is absolutely no need and its actually degrading your image quality significantly.
Bowsa said:Hi the lens doesn't have a filter on it, and there isn't anything obvious I can see on the front, I have tried cleaning this with a lens pen several times without joy?
TCR4x4 said:In that case it must just be stray light from the studio lighting or flash. Does the lens still do it in every situation or just under flash lighting? What lens is it?
