Hi Guys,

Bit of a strange one this, I need to come up with a set of images, which "capture" the essence of retirement and I guess wealth, but not extreme wealth (ie yachts would be bad, holidays good)....

The type of image that will connect with Net Savvy individuals thinking about, or having recently retired!

I thought about going for an obvious "retired couple on the bench" style setup, but is it not a little insulting to our net savvy older generation?

Any ideas most appreciated.

Gary.
Admin: Sorry if this is in wrong place, feel free to shift to OOF.

I think the park bench thing has been done too many times.

Get in touch with local oldies groups and see what events they have arranged for them, (preferably not funerals).

Thinking on the line of tea dances, bowls, day trips out etc……

Obviously ask permission to photograph them.

Many retirees take up gardening so how about the man riding a sit on mower across a lawn with his dear wife crouching in the borders tending to the weeds. The size and condition of the garden will scream of luxury.

... or, on the net savvy theme, an oldish gentleman with reading glasses, sitting out on the terrace with his laptop on the patio table. His wife bringing him a cup of tea in a china cup and saucer.

Contact SAGA or Sex And Games for the Aged.

Or at least look at their website, might find some inspiration.

I presume you are looking for images that show retired couples/individuals with a reasonable amount of disposable income and straight of the top of my head I would consider the following:

Holidays as mentioned above;
Shots of the couple living in relative comfort i.e. sitting on the sofa in a nice, reasonable sized house and a similar shot on a patio area;
Restaurant dining showing crisp white table linen and wine glasses;
Playing with grandchildren in a large garden;
Laughter and fun;
Good teeth and a carbon fibre colostomy bag! :lol:

I haven't got much time to give it more thought at the moment, hope this helps!

what about walking or days out? you see a lot of retired folks just enjoying the english countryside.
i know *** i usually get stuck behind a couple in the car on a sunday :D

Thanks Animal,

I did think about these, and I might use one image from this sort of theme - but it does verge close to the relaxing couple on a bench I feel.

My worry is, the net savvy don't do this sort of thing - maybe they do? Thanks for the suggesting will give it some thought.

These are both themes I feel would be excellent, and I gues what I was imagining whilst askign the Question.

Thanks,

Gary.

If you want to see loads of retired people then go to National Trust properties, coach trips to almost anywhere, well known gardens and parks. My GLW went on a coach trip to gardens in Cornwall and she was the youngest person on the coach. I can say that my GLW retired from teaching recently.

Why not bring it up to date, maybe some oldies getting computer lessons in an internet cafe or somewhere relaxed.

Thought of that as my pals old Ma has not long retired and took some lessons recently at college and is now a computer whizz!

....well, she thinks!!:lol:

I think keeping a socialising/happy theme, maybe days trips on the Waverly, or Western Islas Ferries, maybe Millport or something?

Grannies/Grandas taking the kids to and from school?

Hmmm, got me thinking now!.....

Absolutely with regards to the pitch / client we are thinking about. And these sound good - the Restaurant idea I hadn't even considered, sounds excellent.

Cheers Russ,

I think it would be the retired couple who take out their merc or jag to get around with regards to this project.

I should have been more explicit, sorry.

Ha! I know what you mean!!:D

I'm trying to think about what I'd like to do when I retire, but at the Moment the answer is Hee-Haw!!!:lol:

Absolutely!
I'm in a wee annoyed/depressed mood today because I've just lost £40!

It was in my pocket this morning, but must have fallen out when I took out my car keys!!!

Goddamit!:bang:

Oh Jesus that sucks, I once left a wallet with £400 in a phonebox, city centre EDI. Part of it was to be used to buy a 22" CRT 9 years ago, which I didn't get as a result. And not only that, for the rest of the month I struggled to get nappies and baby food for wee Gary. I had a terrible time, and it hurts still to the day.

OUCH!
£40 doesn't seem quite so bad now!
Oh well, the only thing that would make me feel better is if somebody who really needed the money (like ME) found it!

Keep in mind that many take early retirement; and some take "forced" retirement due to ill health! Just food for thoughts :).

Don't have the wee wifey being all servile. You could have the old boy ( . . . or the young gardener?) in mid shot playing with the dog with a view over the woman's shoulder as she views a photo she's taken of him. Posh compact beside her, cos non-togs are often adamant that they don't want "one of those big, heavy cameras". Using her lappy - maybe women are more likely to be silver surfers? - and if she's found the page on't'internet she won't be averse to seeing someone else using a pooter. Pedigree dog or an adorable mutt. Decent stuff in the garden.

If your looking to show net savvy elderly couples why have a picture of the couple in the park with a lap top with mobile connectivity. You could also shown them with an iPod or iPhone.

Go to Gleneagles during the week, I am sure if you chat to those type of folk you will get a good idea what they do with their money?.

How about a couple sat on deck chair's ,fast asleep,mouth's open and open laptops on there knees......

Can I get your member details so I can login for a look? :D

Not for another 18 months yet I'm afraid, but I understand things can get quite racy, particularly when it involves zimmer frames???:eek:

What about a retired couple sat by a canal or lake on a couple of fold out camping chairs, admiring the scenery and watching the boats going past, relaxed, with a little picnic table with a couple of cups of tea/coffee on there, and a plate consisting of some choice-picked dunk-able buscuits.

That, to me, screams chilled out relaxation.

Thanks for the input mate, another one to mull over.

Gary.

Another one.

Couple sat on a nice leather sofa, cuddled up together whilst both holding a glass of wine & looking through a family album, laughing etc. Maybe even with a lit fireplace in shot, just to add that warm feeling.

Glad to help :thumbs:

How about a couple in a nightclub raving away, with the full on glow-in-the-dark set up?

:lol:

They are not only for embryos, think "MOTORHOME" :D

There are loads of retired people almost living in these, spending their summer here and winter abroad.

What about an older couple walking through a park, all sunny and green, them walking away from the camera so a shot of them walking away? Arms linked? Some kind of physical bond between them anyway, whether it be holding hands etc. Could be shot in a botanical garden I suppose.

Just a mish mash of an idea for you to consider :)
