Hi all

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but lets see

Can anyone recommend me a good place to get real advice on marketing for photographers ?

Training courses, individual trainings, web seminars, not sure exactly but although theres lots of trainings out there for lighting technique etc I'm looking
for the same but for marketing, drumming up new business.

Thanks.

Over the years, I tried many solutions as I was aware
that many colleagues were suffering or giving up.

My latest strategy worked the best… too bad I did not
come to it earlier.
  • develop personal contacts
  • carry portfolio on my iPad Pro
  • don't undersell the work but promote quality.
Good luck!

Thanks Kodiak thats v helpful.

Pls could you tell me more - how do you go about developing personal contacts ?
do you carry yr ipad with you all the time - show clients on shoots ?

do you ever "cold call' via email or phone ?

is there a section amongst the forums here for this ? there should be really as without it pro photogarphers seem to sink

Photography is a business like any other.
The product you have to sell, is firstly your self
and only secondly photographs.

I suggest you sign up for a business and marketing course.
Not a photographic one.

You're asking that to a BEAR TEMPERED MAN!
Talk to other people, show your portfolio at any one,
anytime… but be tactful.

For sure… the best grand you'll ever invest.
do you ever "cold call' via email or phone ?
…been there, done that, don't work!

I suggest you sign up for a business and marketing course.
:agree:

Marketing (and sales) training is broadly the same for any business. Sorry if I missed it but are you full time self employed? If so ask the Job Centre for & about business training courses in your area plus if under 40 and on the surmise it/they still exist lookup the local Junior Chamber of Business.

Do not just look for photography specific business courses if it is your general business knowledge you need to improve :)
