markelliot's 52. W44 Pair. Re Edited! W45 Safety Added... W38 Fun Added!

As I think i've mentioned before I work as a site manager on the Forth Rail Bridge. As our contract is coming to a close and all our scaffold will be off by Christmas if this great weather we have been having holds... I decided to take my camera out on the bridge over the last few weeks. I have resisted the temptation up to recently as I've been there to carry out a job... not ponce about with a camera. Anyway.... You heard it here first... you will get a no scaffold picture of the bridge in the new year! And she is looking mighty fine and shinny!

So on the bridge we work a safe system of work at all times... these shots show the scaffolders who do a brave job at extreme height over water working in complete safety at all times!

Or finally our Men who work in the track must get into a position of safety as the trains horse past at 50mph... more than 400 of them every day... they know they are coming as they are alerted by the automatic train warning system.

But its not all work... sometimes we can stop for a bit of fun and a joke... so finally my Week 38 FUN image... I toyed with this in B and W for ages but the colour version is still best!

Your safe images certainly demonstrate a need for safe working practises  For me #1 is the best, an uncluttered image showing the circumstances and safety gear.

You Fun image is lovely, a good candid with fun expressed all round. I quibble when i say a shame about the light on the extreme left of the image but that's candid shooting for you  Environment is what it is.

All sharp with well controlled light and colour

Hiya Mark,

I have to say I am impressed with all the photos for Safe and the Fun shot.

There is great control and balance of light with a nice DOF on the last of the safety shots and the way you have captured the colours is fab

The fun shot is great in that it has captured the jovial spirit of the chaps in the crew and I find my eyes flicking to each character as it tells a happy story.

Well done to you

BTW thanks for sharing your work with us, I bet the bridge will look fab once all the scaffolding is down. And thanks too to the chaps in your crew who appear in the shots

Now stop poncing about with the camera and get back to work :p

Cheers

Dawn :)

all crit has been given on your Pair of pears......so I'll just say ...I like it :)

Loving the shots for Work & Fun....your 2nd shot for Work stands out to me as the best...perfect focus , great colors (quite a dishy model  )...great shot

I love the Fun shot...big up to your work mates for helping you out...you've caught the spirit of team work nicely & the models stand out nicely from the backgroun....nice one

Some cracking photographs for safe. I'm drawn to #2 (blue had guy) he looks like he's about to jump off the bridge, turn into Superman, and save a damsel in distress.

Fun, well captured. Great expressions and great storyline. What are they laughing at, "Hey, Mark just told us we need to get back to work.....and work harder!"

Cheers.

Well Mark, what a great set, and how lucky are you to be able to take a camera up there.
I wouldn't worry about poncing about with a camera, I'd be clicking away every lunch hour.

Numbers 1, 6 & 7 are my favourites in the set.
7 would be even better if that light unit wasn't on the left hand side of the frame.

Looking at #2, the guy in the blue hat, he looks like he's missed a bit top left

Hi All

Sorry i've effectively given up my 52 for the year... I've just not had time in the run up to christmas and also other things have come up privately which come first. I do intent on taking a day or so in the holidays to simply work on it and finish it. But it wont be till the big fat fella with the red suit has been. Supporting my wife through things recently and preping for chrimbo and working long hours has come first!

Sorry !

Mark

Hi, Mark, life comes first.

I'll keep my eye out for the finale of your 52 - been a pleasure and thanks for the C&C on my 52...

Cheers.

Hiya Mark,

I can appreciate how life commitments take precedence over photography, and for that I commend you.

I too will remained subscribed to your thread and look forward to seeing you finish same ..... after all there is no time constraint ..... it is a Photo52 .... not date related .... rather the challenge is to get 52 photos

Granted, we have had our differences throughout the project (different strokes for different folks), but at the end of all I really do appreciated your commitment, comments and feedback that you have provided over the year, plus the advice you have given.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and much happiness and joy in 2012.

Take care .... this is not farewell ....just see you later ;)

Cheers

Dawn :)
