I bought a Sigma 10-20mm last year just before going travelling from eBay (met in person, tested it myself but didn't notice the issue) - ever since I left in October I only had this lens and my 50mm, and on most shots on the 10-20mm there is a mark to the top left of each photo:

How would I go about getting rid of it? It's definitely not on the front as it was wiped down and a filter went straight on within a week or two of owning it.

Thanks in advance.

It's dust on the sensor, usually only noticeable at higher f/numbers (like your pic at f/11). Any dust on the lens is completely invisible.

Get rid of it with a rocket blower. It's on the bottom left corner of the sensor as you look at it (image is inverted on the sensor).

Oh? There was me thinking I needed to get the lens cleaned, haha. Rocket blower = compressed air?

Certainly not compressed air - blowing that stuff into a camera can have detrimental effects.

The rocket blower blows clean air in at fairly low pressure but enough to clear dust. This video should help.

I have 2 or 3 spots like that on my 10-22, but it doesn't show on any other lens so can't be the body.
I keep meaning to send it off for a clean, but just haven't found time when I wouldn't need it. Meanwhile I just fix the issue in post

but do you use the other lenses at f11 or smaller, I would check the sensor first......

I get marks when I use my 10-20 in the rain, it could be something to do with the UWA optical setup

So getting a cloth and wiping the glass inside the body is not a good idea? :P

Never mind the dust - but nice picture!

Thanks :) I have the raw if you want to play around with it.
