Hi!

I've decided to join the TP PoTY comp but am having difficulty uploading images. I understand that the image has to be somewhere on the 'net' thingy first so tried to add to my TP gallery.

Pic is in pano format. 1000pix by 200pix saved for web 72dpi approx 90kb but when I tried to upload I received a message that it was too wide.

What can I do now?

Hi Paul. Image size should be maximum 800pixels on the longest edge, all you need to do is resize & retry the upload :thumbs:

Either that or use a different place to host your images - eg: Photobox. You can then link to the image at whatever size you need :thumbs:
 
Maximum image size for an image to be hosted in the TP galleries is 800px - panoramic images can be displayed on the forum at 1000px but must be hosted elsewhere :thumbs:
 
We allow 1000 pix on the forums for panos (Check the rules for what we define a pano as).

BUT we still limit the gallery to 800 pix.

The reason being if we upped the gallery limit to 1000, we would get people ignoring the rules and uplpoading non-pano shots of sizes between 800-1000 and posting on the forums.

For the amount of panoramics people post, it makes sense to keep the gallery at 800 and prevent any problems :)

You need to link to the correct size image. The forum software does not resize. If you post an oversize image then it will be changed into a link (by the moderators) for people to click and view off site..... but most people don't bother to look and move on.
