Thanks for link, just ordered. Looks like a good deal!

Hi

I need something that complies with Ryanair restrictions, sadly this just misses

Graham

I'm sure Ryanair looked for the smallest useful case and made their size restrictions just a wee bit smaller so they could charge extras.

No not on that picture, i can shove it on tomorrow and see how far it goes in and take another pic if you like?

If you could that would be great. Just wondering what a D3 would look like in there. :).

The 120-300 looks like its got plenty of room :)

Just ordered one for my D3... will post a pic when I've got it and cut out the foam accordingly, I hope you can wait that long I'm not normally allowed sharp things ;)

On paper there should be about 36mm of foam to spare for the D3

Here's the 7D with Grip in the case, it stands quite high but the lids closes fine. I pushed down on the lid to make sure if wasn't touching the top of the camera and i couldn't feel anything.

I think the 7d+Grip is probably taller than a D3 anyway, i know it was bigger than my 1D when i had it.

Really pleased with mine (thanks again for the link). Spent most of Friday night cutting it out, sad I know. Allowed a bit too much room for the 18-70 but the rest fits nicely.

The D300s is gripped and I have cut into the second layer down for that one but the other items are only in the first layer.

Couldn't shut the top originally so took the top foam out and cut off part of the foam from in the lid (which was only glue on around the edges) so it seems that was designed to allow a bit more room for the height.

Some images below, if you'll excuse the camera they were taken with.

So what happens if you change equipment etc, can you just get new foam or something?? :)

Yeah I got spare foam from jitpak when I had my peli. The 1550 foam looks roughly the right size.

Here's mine !

5D2, 40D, 24-70, 70-200, 85 and cards/batteries - all in one place.

its a pressure relief vent.

Anyone know if these are airline carry-on baggage compatible? I know Ryanair have some funny none standard size limits.

Ryanair is 55cm x 40cm x 20cm so just below unfortunately

Easyjet would work though 56x45x25cm

Everyone seems to be fitting their lenses horizontally in the case, can the shorter lenses not be fitted vertically?

Or is there something I'm missing?

no shorter lenses should fit that way to, but im ex Army so things need to line up!;)

Went and collected one today, excellent.
Thanks to Hugh for the heads-up and to Mark for the code.

Surely this could be gotten onto a Ryanscare flight? 1cm... You see people wedging some damn obviously oversides crap into their luggage bins afterall!

Went Ryanair last weekend, everything checked carefully on the way out but nothing checked on the way back - previously have seen people having to take the wheels off roller-cases etc.

How's everyone getting on with these cases? I went to have a look at one just now and wasn't sure it wasn't going to be deep enough for my needs and still offer some protection.

The thing that bugged me about it was the split is around the middle of the case where the Peli equivalent has the split much higher up.

Perhaps I'm worrying about nothing

Bit of an update.

I messed mine up when cutting and had to bodge it back together sticking bits of foam back in because I cut hole too big. It looked messy so I used the spare layer of bobbly foam (there is probably a better explanation of that) that came with it to cut around my holes and using strong double sided tape stuck it in. This neatened everything up and make the whole thing look a bit nice and a snug fit.

Use it all the time now, fantastic purchase. Thanks again!
