Manual Monitor Calibration question

Yes
Has anyone after manually calibrating their monitor using a web tool like this then gone on to do an electronic calibration, and was there a big difference/improvement?

Just wondered if it was worth investing/borrowing one.

Cheers

I have mate & really didn't notice all that much difference tbh. Probably worth investing if you've got the spare cash but I don't notice enough difference to justify the cost unless I was doing a full monitor/printer/scanner set calibration.

Saying that I used a very good mac calibration program, I've no idea how the PC ones are.
Best to be on the safe side though so it's a good idea to see how it differs to your present settings - there may be a massive difference

I've done both to several monitors and there was a noticeable difference on cheaper monitors on my PC and very little difference on more expensive (Formac) monitors on Macs.

thanks for the feedback guys

I agree there, cheap monitors are usually attrociously calibrated. The laptop I just got yesterday and my parents and sisters screens are all terrible with colour and contrast. Whereas my Viewsonic was pretty much spot on without any calibration.

I find the manual calibration things really aren't that good, i've tried them on the monitors above and they didn't calibrate them very well at all. It's a bit of a shame as I need to sort the laptop monitor out and the only way at the moment looks like buying a huey. :(
