Manual focusing

Right if you check out page 40 of the manual it's all covered on how to select an AF point with a pictorial guide to the button symbols to save me trying to describe them and no doubt failing :lol:

It's actually page 56 of the PDF version as the first load of pages of the PDF don't count as pages to the print version
 
Lewis. I'd just forget about MF for the time being. It's possible - and useful in some situations - but your camera and lens are designed for AF, and you're just making things unnecessarily difficult by trying to use MF at this stage. Learn how to use the AF system properly and you'll be fine. I can't help you here because I have no experience of Nikon DSLRs, but see Post 41 above, and someone will be able to advise if you're still having problems.

Yeah it definitely sounds like your AF point selection. RTM :)
