Just received these - Manfrotto nano stand and the Manfrotto lite tite umbrella bracket, as ordered from teamwork yesterday. Got to say, they're brilliant and solid. The umbrella bracket is all aluminium but it's pretty heavy and I suppose you could use it as a cosh if needs be. I know what would come out on top if you did. But yeah, if you're spending a tenner on a plastic ebay umbrella bracket - which I did and which cracked eventually - spend a bit more and get one of these. Buy cheap, buy twice!

I got a 'frotto adapter and really rate it, would consider a nano stand aswell but I bought a cheapy stand and so far its been great just big and heavy

I've just ordered loads of strobist stuff, and opted for the Manfrotto one too (splashed out on Pocket Wizards so may as well go the whole hog right?)....found them for £20 from both Warehouse Express and Fotosense (the former wouldn't post out to me away from my main address, so picking up from Fotosense tomorrow).

Can't wait! Thanks for adding to the excitement :D

I've got two of the Nano stands... fantastic; just like all other Manfrotto stuff...

I picked up some Hildozine PW Caddies too- that way I can leave a PW attached to the nano when it's in my bag. Makes it a lot quicker to set up

another manfrotto fan here. would love to get a nano or 2......anyone selling some cheap ones?? :)

:lol::lol:

The last couple I saw on Fleabay went for more than the new price :suspect:

Thanks for the tip! :) I'll look into them when I've got my breathe back from pressing that 'confirm' button

Got a link mate?

I found this but where is the hot/cold shoe?

Also, where do you all get your modifiers from that'll fit that Manfrotto bracket?

You need to add a coldshoe, although Calumet were bring out a version of their own-brand 026 with a coldshoe attached, for under £20. Personally I use a combination of Flash Zebra and Stroboframe coldshoes.

What do you mean by modifiers that will fit
it?

I'm just worried certain umbrellas are made by people who have no-idea about lighting and they won't give the same results as another umbrella would (for example).

Would this fit the Manfrotto bracket I mentioned above?

...and the final question, could you please find me a cold shoe that'll fit the Manfrotto bracket on either 7DayShop or Karlu Photography? I'm just about to order it all. Already up to £300. :(

That illustration is upside-down. The brass insert with the male threads screws into a shoe that you buy separately. Calumet market their own version of the bracket, as do Lastolite, and the Lastolite for Metz hammerhead flashes comes with a cold-shoe.

The modifiers that fit are brollies (or anything with a brolly shaft) and softboxes with a bracket to the speedring. There's an eBay seller with a speedring modified so the flash hangs downward and the ring can mount directly to the tilt-bracket.

...or there's this one but ideally I'd like Manfrotto.

Get these - Manfrotto in all but name

No they're not, looks like they've changed the design since I bought mine

You'd be better using the seller FITP recommends on eBay. The Karlu website is an excellent example of how not to sell online e.g. no photo of the undersides of the adapters.
