I'm trying to track down a replacement quick release plate for an old Manfrotto 222 joystick head which was misplaced. The newer plate, the 200PL slots in OK, but the safety catch does not engage. The old QR plate was square with an even thickness all the way round and beveled on all four edges (as far as I can remember). Manfrotto say this has been discontinued. Does anyone know of a suitable plate from another system? I have scoured all the usual websites but can find absolutely no further info. It would a shame to scrap a perfectly good head for the want of a simple plate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried the eBay ones?
I have a 222 head as well as the newer 322?. Never noticed any issues with using any plates on the 222 head. Worth a punt for £6 a go.

Thanks guys. The problem is there are just so many QR plates out there and the official Manfrotto plate doesn't fit. I've tried. I am hoping someone with an older Manfrotto head may be able to give me the name or make of a specific compatible product. I've done plenty of digging around and the one that looks the closest is a Giottos. May order one anyway. Thanks

Thanks again. As far as I can determine the older version of the 222 head (and it could be years old) has a different quick release mechanism from the newer versions. Plates apparently are no longer available for these. I mentioned in an earlier post they were similar to the square Giottos plate, but I got a old of one yesterday and it's too small. I think I will have to scrap the head rather than spending any more money on the off chance I can stumble upon something that fits. So the above recommendations are great, but unfortunately are not compatible with my very outdated model. Thanks again.
