just wondered if anyone has tried this head with a Nikon 500mm F4 or similiar. I'm thinking of picking one up and trying it instead of my gimbal head. I want to have a go at trying to video the Peregrine attacking the ducks on my local reserve.

I use one with my 200-600. It's good but very heavy if carrying around to locations. Very smooth movement though.

I had one for a while.... it is good, but it is deceptively huge! The pictures make it look much smaller than it is and as mentioned above, it's very heavy

Looking at this head again, how do I fit my arca Swiss foot to it. Is their a bracket or similar modification you can buy, or do you screw the supplied Manfrotto long bracket to tripod foot. Thanks

I’ve done a slightly heath robinson job and bolted an arca Swiss receiver onto the manfrotto plate which then sits permanently on the head. I then have arca Swiss plates or brackets on all my cameras and long lenses. The only issue with this method is the receive is mounted in such a way, I can’t put the camera directly on it as it’s facing the wrong way to use the head. A photo would explain this better than I can, but the tripods in the car at the moment.
