My Manfrotto gimbal head will not tighten down on my Manfrotto 055 tripod. What am I doing wrong.

Perhaps if you said which model of gimbal you have, as that may throw some light on the matter?
Plus, what do you mean about it not tightening down e.g. does the head mount but (for some reason?) the thread on the tripod does not go all the way into the hold in the base of the head???
