does anybody know how to tighten the ball head up, i seem to remember there is a way, BUT i cant seem to find it anywhere on the web now!!

yea thanks mate i have only found 1 thread that mentions inseting a shim into the head mechanism, although i can prob figure it out id sooner have the full lowdown!!

That must be the one, sorry I can`t help more, my 785B still fairly tight so I have not had to shim it yet.

just had a go at mine and i think ive cracked it!! where the button mechanism joins the pressure plate its a a tapered piece of plastic, i just put 4 carlsberg can thickness pieces of ally under the tepered slide and held them in place with a TINY drop of superglue, it seems to have donr the trick!!

YAY!! my manfrotto now holds my D40!!
