I currently have the Manfrotto MN055XPROB Tripod, with the 486RC2 head, I want to upgrade to a 488RC2 for the extra panorama control (To be honest it was a dropped clanger that I didn't get that one in the first place, but I won't go into that in any more detail!!)

But I'm also thinking of possibly the 468RC2, Hydrostatic thingy too: -

488RC2 £52 ish Jacobs

468RC2 £166 ish, again Jacobs and W/E

Has any body used both of these heads, and if so, is the 468 worth the extra?

Pete

I use the 468 RC2 and love it. It is solid but quite light for what it is. Very easy to use with the hydrostatic control. I got mine for about £90.00 from Ffords. It is the best ballhead that I have used.

Haven't used the other one so cannot comment on that.

Chris :)

OK Thanks Chris.

I'm assuming thats one of the Gormly statues on Crosby beach in your avatar? I've been meaning to get there for ages to photo them. Are they there permanently now or, will they be moved eventually, as the original plan?

It is indeed one of the Iron Men. They are there permanently now. I live just up the road from them and walk the beach a lot.

A couple for you:
