Manfrotto 303 panoramic tripod head or similar

I'm thinking of investing in a panoramic tripod head.

Does anybody have any experience of the Manfrotto 303 series? In particular, can you explain the differences between the 303, the 303PLUS, and the 303SPH?

Are there any alternatives out there which I should be looking at?

Not experienced the Manfrotto 303 series myself as I have the Ninja Nodal 5L for my 360 work. I find it a very nice piece of kit. I got mine in the uk through www.red-door.co.uk

The Ninja Nodal series seems to get better and better, they've just introduced a new optional (and backward compatible) rotating base their heads that mean you no longer have to dismantle the device to get a different number of click stops - very handy if you regularly use different lenses and therefore need a different number of images per 360 revolution.

I'm interested in any responses as well Stewart. Been looking into the same thing but nearly everyone I have spoken to points me in the direction of the Ninja gear.
