Hi,

I saw this on ebay a couple of months ago, and I liked the concept, so I bought it.

I sold my 300mm land 400mm enses yesterday to finance the purchase of a AF 300mm f2.8, and my other long telephoto doesn't have a tripod collar. I decided to give the 293 a go, and quite frankly, it's excellent. Without it, I'd have had to mount the camera on the Wimberley head, and have the whole weight of the lens hanging from the lens mount, which given the weight of the lens, isn't a good idea. The 293 solved the problem beautifully!!

The support mounts directly onto the Wimberley plate, and the camera mounts via a Manfrotto QR onto the support. The cameras angle can be adjusted via the manfrotto head, so that the weight of the lens rests on the front of the support.

This is a really effective piece of kit, and a great piece of design.

The 300 2.8 arrives Tuesday - I can't wait!!

Looks decent Doug.....

Looks like it fits the roll well Doug. I have to say though that I'm surprised that a lens of that size doesn't have the option of a tripod ring....most unusual.

I thought that as well Bob, the smallish 80-200 has a tripod ring, which lens is it Doug?
