Yes
as above really, i was looking on the net for a good solid tripod to replace my modo maxi and came across the dreaded JESSOPS site which claimed to have the Manfrotto 190xb and the 390RC2 head for £99.99 and i thought it was great! so i poped it this weekend and went to purchase it and they wanted £130 for the same deal?????? so i told the strange man behind the counter that it was up for £99.99 on the net and he didnt believe me so without giving up i made him look on the net and he tried to tell me it was just the web only offer??????? wtf? (ill post the link to the related page to see if you can find out were it says ''web offer only''!lol) anyways after telling him they were false advertising items on the website i would leave it. but as i was walking away he shouted me back and told me i could have it for £99.99 which i think is a bargin tbh.
sorry about the rant it just annoyed me a little so thought i would post it just in case there is anyone here who buys from jessops to warn you to look on the website before you go in as you may get things cheaper next time, i really dont want people getting ripped off.
thanks
Gibbo (link below, see if you can spot the words ''WEB OFFER ONLY''? lol):bang:

FOR YOUR INFO there is no such thing as a recommended retail price anymore as this was outlawed. Jessops and anywhere else to be honest are within their rights not to serve you if they dont want to.
Obviously not a wise choice on their behalf. Jessops are still losing money if you look in the trade journals.

Its a tough world in retail .

What you do is add it to your basket on line, then at checkout select collect at store, choose local store, enter card details ( wont be charged, its just to reserve it ), then you get a ref number, print it out, go to the store, hand it to him and laugh your *******s off...

he will give you the tripod, and you pay £99.99.

JOB DONE

was about to say i always reserve and collect at store, if you have any web codes you can get cheaper to

Actually in Digital Photo this month RGB tech are doing a christmas offer - 055XB and 804RC2 for £99.99

Do you know when from (date-wise)? Can't see a related offer on their website.

:)

If I was messed about like that I wouldn't give them any of my money. :nono: I can only judge by the Liverpool branch, but I've never found Jessops that good a shop, doesn't actually have much stock.

I encountered just the same at Jessops in Gateshead. Suffice to say they didn't get my business. However, not all Jessops are the same. I have nothing but high praise for the staff at their Maidenhead branch.

i was going to use the collect at store option but you have to pay buy card when you get there and i always pay buy cash and never buy card as details have been stolen off me before.:(

ill bet you they wont try and sell it you for £130 ***.lol oh well ive missed out on that but im still happy with the 190xb spot on for what i want.lol

No you can still pay cash, the card only reserves it :)

BTW, Any store can refuse to serve you for pretty much any reason they want. (Within equality laws of course ;))

They can say 'Sorry, I don't want to serve you because it's 4:27 PM and I never serve men with 6 buttons on their jacket on a thursday'. Sucks to be the customer, but its the shopkeepers right.

i wouldn't mind but most of them in there haven't a clue what there selling you half the time, im not saying all jessops are ***t but some are.lol jacobs on the other hand is really useful and friendly as soon as you walk in, and i like to know the people who serve me know what there talking about and can advise me on what im looking for. im an electrician and in my job even if i hate the customer i still have to advise them on the best options for them and help them, other wise i get a bad name. thats prob why there all so simple there they dont really care about there job they just want the money at the end of the week.lol

Would one of those manfrotto deals be a better option than a redsnapper legs + ball head?

My GF is buying me my first Tripod for xmas and just deciding which one to have. Will ultimately be looking at 30D + 100-400L for landscapes, birds and motorsport. Also airshows but I'm guessing handheld is way to go for that?

id got for manfrotto legs but thats just me.lol
