I've got an old version of the Manfrotto 055 tripod, where the centre column splits in half. However this still limits how low to the ground I can get.

Does anyone know if it is possible to connect the head directly to the legs without using a centre column for this tripod please

TIA

I think what you are looking for is an 055CCSB (£20)

or perhaps an 055LAA (£15)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction I'll have to make some enquiries as the 055LAA appears to be triangular in shape whereas my centre column is circular (I did say it was old !)

Can you not turn the centre column upsidedown?

It will mean taking shots upsidedown and the legs might get in the way, but it would allow you to get closer to the ground.

I tried this some years ago with a former tripod. It's a nightmare :gag:
