Good work on this weeks theme Manda.
I like the composition, the star burst from the sun makes for an interesting image. Iain
 
Week 8 - Handmade

Shot from the hip with my iphone and processed in Camera+. You can't get more handmade than a craft stall. I'm also going to be self indulgent and post a second shot from my D300 when I've processed it.

Industry – I like the graininess you’ve given this one

Root – I can see the root but my eye keeps being drawn to the sun – liking the star burst effect

Handmade – Spot on with the theme. Nicely seen and captured.
 
Great moment in time feel to this one. Very good indeed. ;)

I really like you 'handmade' image. The bold colours and 'tight' crop make it work for me. The small depth of field has captured both the fore and background perfectly. Another good photograph from you.
 
I like that a lot. The blur on the needles and her hands as she's knitting is very good. Looking forward to the Nikon one.
 
Hi Manda....lovely image for Handmade...motion blur on her hands really makes the sot....& cracking quality from a phone camera :thumbs:
 
Photographically I really like your Win pair - nice composition and PP - but it's obviously meant to tell a story, and I'm not getting what it is? Probably me being thick?!

Handmade, how sweet is she. Camera phones are sssooo good these days. I'd like to see a slight pan left and eye contact would be great.

Money, not keen on, I have to say, the notes look OOF and it' a bit busy around the edges. I'd have been tempted to buy one and get a photograph of you paying £2.50 for a £1.00 note.

Win, I'm not getting this. I guess in #1 they could be applauding a win, but I'd like to see the winner, unless the guy in #2 is the winner :thinking: Bit ot narrative might assist.

I really like your pair of 'win' images very nice tones and processing. It prompts me to ask what's the story behind the image? The clapping hands in #1 from right to left really lead your eye across the image. nice work :thumbs:
 
No story I'm afraid, just another lame posting! My 50m prime wasn't wide enough to capture the winner as he crossed the line, I caught him collapsed on the floor as a juxtaposition win / lose.

I'm loosing the will to participate in the project to be honest, so I've decided that any submission is fine rather than making it troublesome for myself. For me, the journey is the reward, not the final submissions - getting out of the house hunting for images is the fun part.

If you peek at my Flickr / FB sites you can see I've been busy processing lots of portraits & I'm proud of these photos!

I don't think it's lame Mandy; as I said it's a very nice photo. It may not say "win" as much as it could, but who cares if it looks nice and if it did what you want the challenge to do.

It'd be a real shame if you stopped, but on the other hand there's no point doing it if you're not enjoying it.

Hi Manda, I know how you feel, I had the same last year and bailed out after week 6, but this year I'm determined to stick this out. You've started out so well and would be a shame not to see you posting here, especially when seeing the wonderful photography you're capable of, but if it's becoming a chore then you have to do what you think is best, but you can be assured you'll always get support of us here :). Good luck with your new course, it sounds fun, might take a look myself :nuts:

Amanda, what I like the most about your photography is you have your own personal style - and I really like what you do. As for the challenge, if you're struggling finding the inspiration for certain themes, if you feel they don't really suit you and your style of photography, then perhaps you should allow yourself to go slightly off theme to find something you do like? Either way, I'd hate to see you drop out because as I said, I really do like your work.

This challenge is a struggle at times, probably because the themes haven't been the easiest. Fingers crossed it will get a bit easier. You're a very talented portrait photographer, I'm following you on FB and Pinterest now:thumbs: Keep going here though, we'll drag you through.

Oh I've signed up for the PP's course too. Your JPEG image looks amazing! Just a shame my camera hasn't seen the light of day in nearly two weeks due to illness:-(

Hi amanda, I agree totaly with Nathalie's comment above but couldn't put it nearly as well! Don't let it become a chore you are doing so well and take some great photos. A lot of people struggle with some of the themes and you do sometimes have to look hard to get it to fit into the theme but does that really matter! What matters is taking photos that you are happy with and you have plenty of those!:)
