Why do they need to apologise for making a terror attack authentic, In every report of recent terror attacks this is what they tend to shout before detonation or killing people seems fair to me.
Why are we so afraid.....

In an ironic turn of events a man in Germany shouting the same thing and killing one and attacking a few more with a knife is reported by the BBC just before they reported the police apology because of a mock attacker shouting the same thing.

Of course though the man in Germany must have mental issues, so they said. I'm sure he did, I mean for what other reason would someone stab to death another person without provocation and then go on to attempt to carve up a couple more people peddling past minding their own business.

Goodness gracious me what a bonkers world we are living in, Its not the freedom our forefathers had in mind when they were in the trenches is it. This any many other things...

ANPR cameras all over the place...whats all that about, as more of them have just been fitted on the way into Liverpool.

Just saw that on the lunchtime news & thought FFS someone offended again!

Just heard it on the radio and thought "someone on TP is going to be miffed at someone being offended on behalf of someone they have never met"

Not miffed as such just, feel...kind of err C'mon.

Starting to think that the real problem is 24 / 7 news feeds and mobile news apps, And more so me reading them and thinking what's the world coming to, logging on here to see how my printer thread is going and get a ping about an update....O well it will all come out in the wash.

Why do they need to apologise for making a terror attack authentic...

If we accept that there have to be exercises like this I wonder how close or far from reality they need be?

Personally I think they need to be as close to reality as possible and that could well include the terrorist shouting something but I suppose in this day and age someone should have foreseen this little storm in a teacup brewing.

Personally I'm offended by the terrorist being a male and why did it have to be a shouty man dressed in black? That's offensive to shouty men in black isn't it? Why couldn't he have been soft spoken and wearing a nice floral dress? Come to think of it women often scare the hell of me so perhaps the terrorist should have been a woman? Or... a spider...

Blimey, police forces apologises. Whatever next :)

Compensation and heads will roll no doubt as its so shameful to offend. Some need to face up to what's going on in the world and in general terms they were only making the operation authentic.

I wonder IF the fake terrorist shouted it in English would there be an apology, Got to laugh its all cocked up this country sometimes....

Think I will put on me flame suit....mind you it will end up in the forbidden zone as its got to end up HOT HOT HOT!

I wanna know how all the shoppers knew it was going to all "kick off"
and rushed out to buy ear defenders!

I don't understand your post. On this occasion I think they had nothing to apologise for

Most threats to the UK at the moment are from islamic terror groups, face the facts.

If you are offended by that, I suggest you pack your bags and f*** off or start helping by keeping your eyes and ears open in your community.

I dunno, I kinda on the fence here. I think its a bit stupid really.
If this had benn bumsville, Alabhama I would agree.

This is Britain in the 21st century and the guy the doing the acting should have had a script and I think some has been a bit of a pillock.

I think the problem is a lot of news outlets seem to get their opinions and stories from Twitter, which has become some kind of moral compass. The people who complain about things like this don't live in the real world.

I had to laugh when I read this story on my news app as the story directly below was "Man shouting Allahu Akbar kills one and injuries three in Germany". It's almost like the police and security services have a bit of an idea who and where the primary threat is from

Pussies....

Apologise in case it may have offended folk, total load of utter [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]! It's the real world and deal with it, there's too much public opinion.

Did shouting the phrase add any value to the exercise?

No, so they should have erred on the side of caution.

Yes it did - it added realism. Did having blood on the actors have any benefit? Yes, realism. Did firing blanks have any benefit? Yes, realism.

This is a serious business being conducted by serious people - they have a lot more to worry about than a minority of the public's mock outrage.

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so f*****g what."

Exactly!!!!!

Ear defenders and safety goggles didn't add any value to the exercise either. Completely unrealistic.

I assume they were to protect peoples eyes and ears while blanks were being fired etc.

Aye, I can just see the polis donning their goggles and ear defenders before tackling a terrorist!

Elf an safety and an apology, the world's gone daft!

lets tear them apart. The very people who may just save your life one day, or probably do on a daily basis without you knowing.

Stick and stones etc.

Just leave them be to train hard and fight the fight that allows us all our freedom

I see irony here...
The police seem to be very reluctant to apologise when they should, and very keen to apologise when they shouldn't

Well, the reason it's called Twitter is because it's used by Twits... :wideyed: :coat:

The inevitable has happened, request for an inquiry and resignations:

I think some people are choosing to miss the point the exercise which was to recreate an ISIS (or whatever label you choose) type scenario given recent events in Paris and Brussels. I wonder if these same vocal people were as quick to condemn said events as they are now to express their 'hurt' that Muslims were being portrayed as terrorists.

"Police have been accused of "institutional racism" for portraying a suicide bomber as an Islamist terrorist, a protest meeting heard."

Oh for Gawd sake...

You know, sometimes I think that accusations should be answered in very blunt even profane terms. Something like...

"Look you f***wits. Who do you think is the main threat these days? White middle aged Morris dancers from Surrey? The fact is we're preparing for a possible Islamic extremist terror attack and we wanted to make it realistic so we used a bloke dressed in black and shouting what Islamic extremists have often shouted so shut the **** up, **** off and keep your fake moral outrage bottled."

But instead someone has to waste time dealing with this crap :(

It's funny old world apologise why?

Offended why? You believe in an imaginary being and you talk to him every day, well crack on, but don't be offended as wake up it's not f*****g real.

How about you offend me by killing animals in the most cruel way ever. Do you apologise, no you don't, why because the imaginary friend tells you it's ok.

How about you offend me by harbouring terrorists in your community, but stay quiet because the religious leader tells you it's in the name of Islam.
