But not a lot as I do not shoot much MF, its heavier than the 2.8 obviously but nice and bright nothing not to like really.

Interesting - I'd almost solely be investing in 645 for this lens really (I'm a 6x6 shooter mostly), so it needs to be good!
 
Lots of people out there love them the only negative point I remember reading is some claiming the corners wide open are not as sharp as the 2.8 and of course as with all the Mamiya 645 lenses check that the aperture blades don't stick.

Sorry I haven't got any images to show ...might brag it our later for a change from lugging the 10x8 about

Yes it did, duly infracted and deleted - and I'd suggest not counting on getting automatic access to the classifieds either...

Wow more users than I expected! Very interesting.

The only thing putting me off is that they are a tad expensive on the used market sadly.
 
I paid 150 for mine from Teddington Photographic a couple of years ago they often have good prices on Mamiya gear so are worth a look now and then. Looking about earlier I found this at Rocky cameras but it says out f stock whatever that means :shrug: they seem to sell for about 200ish on ebay.

Bought from Teddington before, seem to offer a good service.

Wouldn't buy old fast medium format glass from Rocky even if it was 90% discounted I'm afraid.
 
Teddington I like Rocky I've never dealt with I did see his wares at the Brigton canera fair in March and felt the descriptions were a bit optomistic.

You could try poking the LCE seconhand bit with a stick now and then as you can search amungst the branches I didn't notice anything exciting at the moment but sometimes you see good deal for a camera and lens or lenses.

Understatement of the century I'm afraid, I wouldn't buy from Rocky again unless it really was something either really rare or something that just couldn't have something wrong with it, what he describes as 'perfect' or in good condition will just have something wrong with it guaranteed. He's right hard guy to get your money back from as well, Paypal disputes are the only way it seems with him as he never seems to reply to any messages of complaint.
 
:naughty: I was being circumspect....as such I believe a friend in the trade description was junk that we would turn down.
 
I think of anyone does a search in F&C about Rocky they'll learn all they need to know in terms of "Caveat Emptor"... :lol:
 
Now I'm all confused with the 788 different Mamiya 645 models. Nikon 35mm film bodies, Nikon lenses (!!!), Rolleiflex... I'm fine with. But this is another level of complexity!

Camerapedia has a good bit on the earlier cameras

Some people prefer the earlier all metal cameras the best being the 1000s for the extra features however they don't take backs so you can not change film mid roll

Of the later polycarbonate bodied modells I believe the Pro TLL is the prefered model because of the most features.

Make sure you get the grip if you get one with a prism, otherwise they are a b****r to hold

Just messing around with the 1.9 the other week first one is wide open the other probably F8.

If you do get one the waste level viewfinder is often much nicer for focousing and composition.

Can I add to that? I have a metal bodied 645 1000S with waist level finder and a polymer bodied and battery gripped 645Pro with the AE prism finder. The two feel like completely different cameras to operate and battery grip doesn't really suit the WLF and I'd have to take the battery grip off to use the Pro with a WLF.
