Male Model Portfolio shots

It's been suggested that my cousin should look into becoming a model, and it's also been suggested that I'd be able to sort out some portfolio type shots for him. I haven't agreed yet, but I wouldn't mind giving it a go. I'm not too bothered about gear requirements as I've got a good idea what will be required of me photographically - but what I don't have a clue about is what sort of shots I actually need to take, once I know that I can work out my gear/location etc.

Where would be a good place to start looking for some ideas and inspiration? Something I should be aiming for?

I would look at a few agencies and see the images they have for the models they represent and take it for there eg

I'd say ligting is probably more key than exact location, if you don't have studio then get out on a sunny'ish day and find somewhere with good light, I found in a woods/forrest worked as they light is shaded. Use a reflector as that helps cut out shaddows. I assume its general 'face' modelling rather than fitness/muscle stuff as that requires different lighting.

Im no expert at all, just I personally have found lighting key to good portraits.

Most models would require beauty headshot (to see his skin) and a body shot (to see his body) in clothes and in swim-wear.
