Every summer, our group of friends creates a slideshow to showcase some of the best photographic and video memories of the past few months and this year it's up to me to compile the video. It'll just be a series of photos set to music (preferably changing in beat if there is software which does this automatically?) as well as a few videos thrown in there.

I'm a complete novice at video editing so what easy-to-use software do you recommend?

For slideshows we use Pro show gold, but I don't know if it handles video, we don't do much of that. Wayne

Windows moviemaker, default in most PCs handles video, audio and stills. ;)

Been having a moochy at windows movie maker and its cool.

But how thr heck do you put music onto it.?

I find Proshow Gold & Proshow Producer the best software for slideshows.
Yes it does handle video fine.

Is pro show 3.5 any good?

I think you'll find v4 is out now (that's the one I updated to anyway), it's ace as it's easy peasy to use

I don't think PSG Producer is worth the difference & hike in pricing though

Click on 'Import media'. Find your track and import it - it should appear amongst your photos. Drag the music file down to your slide show.

Just picking this up from here...ive recently from the advise of forum members got ProShow Producer v4, what can i say love the program life is sooo easy with it. There is various transitions u can use and a fair few slide options, you just have to play around with it. Also i would recomend a decent speed computer as on mine sometimes slows up.

With regards to templates, and not starting a new thread, can i throw a question to anyone who has already used ProShow to create a wedding style dvds.

Im after templates for a wedding dvd, the ones that come with the program are not completly wedding style, im after you know the type flowers, pic frames, rings hearts the usuel wedding kind oif stuff. Any advise or direction would be greatly appreciated. As i said previously this is my first time and im putting something together for family member as gift, wanna make it look as slick as possible.

Thanks in advance
Nad

I since purchased ProShow Gold and, save for a couple of niggles where it is ineffective in syncing the music to the images, it's very easy-to-use and a real gem of a program.

I have just upgraded to PSG v4 and find it easy to use and perfect for wedding DVD slideshows. I could not justify the extra cost for Producer and I am happy with the extras available with V4.
