Yes
Was thinking about this whilst on a car journey home as a passenger.

As we drove past the shops and houses, I tried to work out how best to take one photo which would capture the scene. A few ideas sprang to mind.

Now at home, my mother is mowing the lawn and I'm struggling to make it look interesting. I have a vague idea about maybe lying on the ground and shooting up so the lawnmower's handles create leading lines towards the head but can't think of any other ideas.

Can ALL ordinary mundane stuff be made interesting, or are some things just too boring?

i shot the inside of a washing machine as pasrt of my abortive 1000 thread ( i say abortive because i go to about 50 then lost interest :bang: )

Give your Mum the camera to take a pic of you mowing the lawn

Why not start an actual thread getting people to post their own take on getting mundane items to look interesting? You could even suggest a new 'item' each week and of course have a go yourself, push your imagination and creative side a bit :D

Jeez, i`ve just finished a 8 month time lapse of a bloody factory going up, processing them is boring the crap outta me.The lawn mower currently seems very interesting.

I have the opposite problem.

I seem to make interesting subjects look mundane :(

Back to the question..

Yes!.... I think almost anything can, looking at things from different angles and not the obvious!
Even a little PP can then enhance an image to capture people's attention!

Having a thread like what was suggested, for people to post ideas and photos is a pretty cool idea

There's a thread on Flickr called Fence Friday. You basically just take a photo of a fence and post it on Friday.

Created purely to show that boring things, taken in the right way can make a good photo.

I've taken a few myself:

I like those Ben, especially the 2nd one and does show that you can get creative with otherwise boring subjects.

Mundane Monday anyone? ;)

Hell yeah

Hmmm...whilst it sounds appealing, I don't think I'd have the nous to keep a thread going so happy for someone to take over.

With enthusiasm like that, I shall be charging you with running it if the OP doesn't fancy the job  :D

Uh oh T.....Busted

Haha eek!! Yeah that's cool

in that case, its all yours! new 'subject' every monday perhaps, as mundane and normal as possible, the sort of thing everyone can find around the house/garden, probably posted in either themes/challenges, or I even think it could justifiably be in creative photography given the aim to try and get creative with it

 Don't worry, I wouldn't force it on you, but would be good to see you join in

This sounds like fun. I'm stuck at work 4 nights per week and the spartan security office is very mundane!

Uh oh T.....Busted

You know those times when you wished you could think first!

I can do mundane no problem lol!

I shall set it up later once on the laptop....

I shall be expecting YOU ALL to join in you know!

Ma'am...YES MA'AM!!!

Perfect response! Chuckle ...

Does anyone have any objections to me using a starting photo that isn't today? It just saves me re-shooting and i have the perfect starter ( well not perfect but you get my drift)...if anyone wants to start later I can set it up soon?

So does it have to be taken on a Monday, or just posted on a Monday? I've one or two kicking around the harddrive..........:)
I'm off to work in 1/2 an hour and by the time I get to sit down it'll be Tuesday, technically ;)
(And there's no internet access at work :( )
Still, there's always next week!

OK rat has control of my phone for 5 mins so i get the laptop to set up .. I'm on it! ( not literally of course):p

Omens,

Your question about mundane subject is just as critical as mundane threads and replied. How to make something interesting and capture the attention of the viewer / reader is as critical as knowing the skill of how to use your equipment.

Not too sure how to make a lawnmower interesting other than to get it in the middle of a desert with a camel herder :p

Ben,

The fences, impressive how you've made them interesting. Not too sure they'd be interesting individually on their own, but collectively there is a nice theme going there

T.,

So then, where is the thread, Mundane Monday?

So then, where is the thread, Mundane Monday?

she's making me a sandwich and a mug of tea first  then she'll be on the case

 yay well done T, will get my thinking cap on and get something posted before next monday. I wonder if its also worth people either posting or pm'ing you more suggestions so you have a nice stock pile of themes. Totally up to you, just offering suggestions to help... and waiting for 'tin of baked beans' to come up

Actually yes that's not a bad idea for people to pm me with suggestions, there will come a time i will be stumped and it's nice for people to feel like they are a part too. I'll amend initial post..

The first one to suggest a tin of beans i will personally drive down there and stamp on their foot:D:D
