I have my new to me 4870 but all the film holders are missing. The medium format ones seem to be NLA from epson or stupidly expensive for bits of plastic so I'm considering making my own. My 3490 one is the wrong size completely.

Are there any other epson models with film holders that are cheap that could potentially be butchered to fit the 4870 or is it best to make something in black card to lay directly on the glass and do it that way?

I was thinking 1mm black card, sandwich frame (s) between 2 sheets with cut out slightly smaller than the frames and secure it. Would that work?

I don't know what make they are but Wblati has got some for sale in the classifieds.

The ones in classified are for another epson model I think. They're also just the cover sections from what I can tell. Those bits for sale slot into the main holder which covers the entire base of the scanner. It seems some of them do the film holding in two bits ie you have the main film holder and a slot in part that deals with the different sizes of film. The cheap scanners have an all in one which is harder to lose :)
