Do any of you know of any good photo book software or printers? I have spent hours trying loads of different ones that you can order online, and well every single one I tried has been truly awful. I want to make an album of my wildlife images with one picture per page and a caption below it. I also want to add a title on the front cover, at the top with my name at the bottom.
Thanks

I've used mac's aperture and very pleased with it. One point is the front cover picture wasn't printed particularly well. But inside the quality is fantastic. I've also tried (before aperture) jessops photobooks which are ok, but long winded and very restricive with templates.

I am using a PC and I havent got aperture, Jessops was one of the bad ones I looked at.

Which ones have you tried so far? And what sort of price range?

I have tried all these and they are bad.

Have you considered using some other software to create your own pages, then just print them as full page images in the photobooks?

Mmmmm, so you've looked at a few then :)

i have bought many from shutterfly.com including ones from my wedding and am always impressed
you have yo order from the US but the $ rate makes them good value and delivery is fast.

they also do good calanders

I'm happy enough with my Photobox one. Its the smaller type and it allows me to carry my portfolio around with me all day. So handy. Tell someone you're a photographer and they say "Cool." Show them my portfolio and they say wow and remember me.

What kind of price range you looking at? I'll put my standard plug for Vision Art books but they aren't cheap I'm afraid...

Hofmann is also worth looking at, I have had several done there and am pleased with them.

Hum,
Read this about 30 mins after I put in an order for a photobox one.

Not sure what the problem was in making them apart from I'd like a few more templates to suit my mix of portrait/landscape.

I've just tried one for our Florida holiday photo's.

www.fotobook.co.uk got the gold award from Digital Photo during their review.

I had quite a few books from them and think they're excellent. There customer support is also really good and respond to email queries.

I've always used Aperture for my photo books.

The SINGLE biggest problem with automated services, is that the pics are often cropped.

I always crop the pics first for the book, but in the right dimensions to ensure no picture detail is lost.

Example here from Aperture.
