Hi all hope every one is well.
Ive been chatting to my sister in law who is a make up artist who mainly does weddings at the Moment for friends and family. She is just starting out in the business. I mentioned to her about photography make up for shoots, she was unsure about the money side of it really ie how much people charge for shoot make overs. She also seemed concerned about people not paying also.

So if their is any one on here which know about this stuff and could offer advice that'll be great.

She lives in Bristol so I imagine she could find lots of work for shoots

Cheers

I use a pro mua on everyshoot she is a friend and is excellent, she charges £75 for a half day and £140 for a full day and is worth every penny.

However it may be worthwhile doing a couple of TF shoots with a decent portrait photographer to get some images that show of her work.

Cheers

There are, I believe, make up artists on Model Mayhem. I would treat it like anything else, work out an hourly/half/daily rate plus cost of materials and work from there

Really ok thank you ill have a look on there and have an ask

Cheers for you help guys

I use make up artists as and when needed really. Based in London. Prices ranges from £150/day to £350/day depending on experience and portfolio.

Couple of things to note:

1) the photographer pays the MUA and invoices the client for it. So if you're having trouble getting paid, ditch the photographer.

2) a MUA with a good portfolio is able to do beauty, regular portrait type and crazy creative colourful things... I'd advise shooting for free a dozen times just to get good content for her book.

Hey thanks for the reply.

sounds like you can make some money in London being a MUA.

Thank for clearly up who pays who, thats really helpful :)
My sis in law has said she wants to get a portfolio set up so i will be helping her with that :)
