I know I can share a printer but I want to attach my canon 4800 to the network so everyone can use it in the house without a particular computer on.

Im guessing a print server but I picked one up and it doesnt work with windows 7 64bit :(

i have a home newortk that a has one computer that just runs my printers, i had the problem of accessing drivers for win 7 64 bit but managed to get around this, when im not printing i jkust turn off the printing computer

its just an old pent 4 xp computer, it also doubles as a file store

Cheers Steve

I didnt really want to have the extra power load and there isnt really enough space. I guess one option would be to use a laptop and have the screen off. Having it on constantly isnt a great idea though.

Print server wired or wireless will do the trick.

Are you certain its the print server that isn't working with windows 7?
The printer supports windows 7 right?

Printer works fine. Its a canon iP4800 so a pretty new printer.

I have a Belkin Wireless G All-In-One Print Server but I cant seem to find out how it works on windows 7 64bit. Any help would be great.

On the Belkin website (http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=354892) reports product compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. Also has a printer compatibility guide on there which again your printer isn't listed.

Whats "not working" about it? Are you struggling to install drivers?

Looks pretty straight forward with regards to Factory Reset the item, put the disk into your machine and install, then automatically detect the wireless print server.

Hope this helps.

Ive managed to get it working through the wired setup and LPR, for some reason though when I change it over to wireless I loose the connection to the print server.

i have never had much joy with belkin wifi stuff if you have the option see if you can exchange ot for a netgear one in my experience they work straight out of the box

Had one of them, Belkin stated to me that there is no software support for it in Windows 7 64Bit. Was working fine with my windows XP 32bit system.

I got a Sharkoon USB LANPort 400, 1x 100Base-TX

Works very well. I tend to not swap the computers that attach to it that often, but I have a Canon i560, Canon Pixma 9500 II, and an MG5650.
The last device is a printer and scanner all-in-one machine, I can still use the buttons on the scanner to scan from the printer upstairs, depositing the images on the computer downstairs.
