Major cold snap is on the way.

Well it seems that Ian got it right pretty much right
better than those paid "liars" snow? what snow? :D
Nice one Ian

:) Why, thank you for that kind comment. Means a lot to me when I read something like that written by you and Dseered.
I'll make no bones about it, meteorology isn't an exact science, but I do try my best. I have to admit that this cold spell has lasted a lot longer than I expected.
Anyway, travel safe when you get to work tomorrow, or you're about to finish work and you're about to make your way home!
Any further updates or news on how much longer this cold settled spell will continue will appear here. Thank you for all your comments and for paying attention to this thread. :)

Dumping with Snow in Kendal right now, biggest lumps of the stuff I have seen for years, with the hard packed ground and low temps it will be interesting in the morning if it keeps up !

That band of precipitation that's currently working it's way down the country as I speak is quite the unprediable beast. It seem to produce heavy snow in places and only rain or sleet in other places.
Anyway, as ths rain/snow band works it's way down towards the south, it should become lighter and more fragmented.

Well, Kendal is a small place, almost in a bowl, I live on one side of that bowl, I can walk into town and out of the rain, look back up the hill and still see it raining with streams of water running down into the dry town - weird old weather system we have here !

Snow settling nicely !

Well my drive to work yesterday was between -7 and -9 all the way.

This morning we have a good inch of snow in Ingleton but there wasn't really any by the time I got to Lancaster which is how it usually goes. I took a photo this morning looking out over out backyard to prove we had snow as I'm sure they don't believe me sometimes.

Will be bad tomorrow if it freezes tonight.

I have to say this is one of the coldest winters so far we've had for quite a few years. Its been freezing with us since easily the begining of December on most nights. The last lot of snow we had lasted nearly a week as it kept freezing but the number of road accidents soared that week and driving to work was a case of hoping that you got there without any dints it was that bad.

You certainley hit the nail on the head Ian!
I can't believe how long this cold spell is lasting. It's been constantly blooming freezing for seems a lifetime!!!

I can't remember the last time we had a spell last this long.........
