This is something that I thought would be easy to find, but I'm struggling. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I'm looking for a mains powered USB hub that I can plug a portable HDD into which can then be plugged in to my TV's USB port for viewing family videos, so a data passthrough type thing. The HDD is currently connected directly to the TV, but I want to take the power draw away from the TV.

Most of what I'm finding seems to be USB hubs for charging and I'm not sure if they can also be used for data passthrough? Some that I've seen have selection buttons at each port, so presumably they do allow passthrough of data, but the manufacturers can be a little obscure.

Are there any reliable branded ones out there? It only needs 1 port, but if 4 port is the min that's fine as well.

I have one of these which I have my card reader plugged into, so certainly does data.
Not had any problems with it - it has power buttons for each of the 4 ports

I've not heard of them, but I guess 233,933 happy people is a good indicator. That's perfect, thanks for that and ordering it now. :)

Sabrent are mainly known for high performance flash memory at good prices and USB peripherals. I came across them when I was looking for a 2242 size SSD which is an unusual one and then bought one of their CFExpress Type B 512gb cards because it was a good price for the performance, I also bought one of their USB-C CFExpress card readers which has also worked well.

Just thought it worth mentioning because there's so many unknown brands when searching for items these days.

Thanks, appreciate the reassurance! (y)

The USB3 ones I have used when setting up Teams rooms and huddle spaces were made by Belkin but they had a supplied 5V plug top power supply rather than having an integrated power supply.

I've just bought one of these which seems to do, Good for charging at 30w but I'm not sure if you may need something more powerful?

Thanks, but it's data transfer I need it for and not charging, although I guess that would be bonus.
