After a few years of reading practical photography magazine, I have deceided to look for something new. I am finding that alot of magazines all have cd or booklets with them, so its harder to flick through them in the shops.

Can anyone recommend any of them? if so why do you choose that one?

Thanks

Rob

DPP (Digital Photo Pro) is probably the only magazine I ever buy these days. It is a US magazine, so you will have to go to a shop that imports it (Boarders). It is probably the best of the mags aimed at pros or aspiring pros, and has alot of great interviews and in-depth articles.

But generally I don't buy 'Photography Magazines' anymore. I have been buying fashion/beauty/art magazines. I picked up the current 'WOUND' recently. Great value.

Another DPP fan here. I also quite like professional photographer. The only "amateur" mag I have any time for is Digital SLR photography. Most of the contributers are absolutely top notch and I've not seen a bad article yet in two years of subscribing. It seems to fill the niche between beginner/developing and advanced. They challenge their pros with an object to shoot and some of the results have been amazing.

Hi Rob
try BJP, British journal of photography its a weekly around £2.
Also my favourite Black and White photography a monthly mag.

I'd second Digital SLR photography, great mag!

JPG Magazine rules, if you are looking for inspiration - worth subscription: www.jpgmag.com

British Journal of Photography is the only UK magazine worth reading (in my opinion). The rest is just filled with stupid ads and useless tutorials - the same you can find in the Internet, but for free and better edited. :)

AG has a mix of digi and fine art, no adverts, no equipment reviews, interesting articles on alsorts of things.
Silvershotz Fine art magazine, beautifully produced and covers mainly film.
Hotshoe British produced magazine again covers the more off beat areas of photgraphy also has lists of galleries around the country and whats on show.

Have got a subscription to the first two, and pick Hotshoe up from Borders when I can

There appears to be 2 DPP

Digitalphotopro.com

and

dppro.co.uk (Uk Based)

Are they the same magazine?

I've just cancelled my subscriptions to both 'Practical Photography' and 'Photography Monthly' - All they seem to do is rotate the same(ish) articles every year, and as far as i can see about 50% of the mag is about how to fake a sky or do loads of PP work on your images. I found myself just skimming through them and never reading them. I also just got fed up with the 'how to shoot a sunset' articles...

I now read and subscribe to 'Amateur Photographer', which actually has articles about photographers and photography.
I know there are quite a few ads, but the quality of the tests and articles more than make up for that in my opinion.
If you subscribe it only costs about £1.29 a week (about a litre of diesel!) - The cover price is £2.25, so quite a good saving :)

'Black & White Photography' is another one I get sometimes.
