Do you regularly enter any magazine competitions?

I was reading Digital Photo last night, and I think I'm going to make a go of their POTY next year, aswell as on here I think.
Then I thought "Why not enter some more?"

Do you religiously enter any comps? POTY? Magazines etc?

I only do the one here at TP

Well if your entering I'm not. Your standard is too high from what I have seen recently:razz:

I did until other events overtook last year :), I managed 3 entries and got a second place in one national and printed in another. I have to be honesty seeing one of your shots in any form of print publishing is massive motivation to carry on.

I have already made a promise to enter into these next year... So yes for me!

I've never entered one, but I've judged a few. One I'd recommend for the monochrome shooters is Black & White Photography Mag's annual competition. Very high quality submissions, reasonable entry fees, and very attractive prizes. They've had a turnover at the editor position recently, but I assume the competition will carry on as usual this year.

I only really enter one competition regularly and thats on a big forum , AVFORUMS.

I find i don't have time to look for competitions AND spend the time planning my shot , etc.

Maybe a list of regular competitions would be handy . *shoot me if there already is one*

 WHy do I think you don't mean the 'What Rating did the Elinchrom lamp get in our review last month?' Answers on a postcard, win an elinchrom lamp - type competition do you?

The short answer is no, not because I dont want to or anything, but simply because I read the mag when it arrives, see what he comp are, think 'oh brill, i can do something for that' finish reading, put magazine away...forget about the comp... :shake:

Mabybe next year, when I can start from the beginning with the POTY stuff they do.

Which reminds me, why is 'food and drink' so bloody difficult to be original with photographically? :suspect:

Im gonna enter plenty next year, just to be printed in one of the mags would be cool. A friend at my camera club won a comp in a mag last month with a photo of a waterfall, he won £1300 worth of canon gear. (no comments about getting the booby prize from the Nikon fraternity please). Its got to be worth the postage.
Dean:)

I can't even remember to enter the one on here let alone a magazine :) I do think I should start trying though. For both :)

i entered the digital camera mag comp in September, theme was panoramas, never got anywhere though - some stunning results this month though so am not suprised i never got anywhere :D

Im like Pete, & LL ... I always mean to enter ... always forget!

Next year Im going to make a conscious effort, gawd knows I spend enough money on the mags, might as well throw my hat in the ring!

I entered my first the other month and won... not bad I reckon. might have a go again sometime

I entered a pik when I bought a fuji camera and won 1st prize Photoshop CS never installed it on my pc and also entered a picture in Photoshop creative it didnt win but was printed in the mag ...kinda nice to see something you produced in print I want to sell the photoshop cs to buy some more gear for my Nikon camera :) I also took some pictures of my neighbours garden for a cometition and Wales weather on ITV did the weather forcast from his garden ....that was interesting to see
