The problem is that the text is kinda hard to read, especially at a glance. A good design should always be easily readable at a glance. The reason your text isn't very easily readable is because of the circular path it's following, the very thin black border around it (so the white of the lettering is almost merging with the white background), and because block capitals are harder to read than lower case, due to the fact that block capitals are all roughly square, which interferes with our ability to read letters based in their shapes. I studied graphic design, and avoiding block capitals was one of the first things we were encouraged to do. Sure, they work in some circumstances, but for a design like this, they kinda don't.
Don't always feel like you have to make everything into one compact design, with all the elements on top of each other. You can easily place the text alongside the image in some other way.
