I have been looking for a new lens for my Canon .....I found an advert that states(for a canon lens) 'it is a made in Japan model ' does this mean anything ? I know the canon lens I have on it now has made in Taiwan ......but all this means nothing to me can you advise ??

I doubt very much whether there would be any difference whatsoever between lenses made in Japan or elsewhere. All the factories use the same machinery so any differences would be minute.

If the lens was made anywhere near Fukushima in the last couple of years you might find the difference is that it glows in the dark lol

I have one lens with "made in Japan" and the other "made in Taiwan", my 550d has "made in Japan" on the bottom of it.
Don't think it will mean much to be honest!

If anything I would expect Japanese quality control to be better than most (nuclear reactors excepted)

I think the made in Japan versions keep their value slightly better, however it doesn't really make a big difference.
