I see people post pictures (macro) that are so close up and detailed of insects, and I really want to know how they do it. What kit do you need? How do you get that clse without the insect moving away.....??

The kit is easy, start with a Raynox 150 or 250, my preference is the 150.

And then it's all down to 'Patience' and lots of it.

Simple really.

Some people put bugs in the fridge, that slows em down a bit.

Here's one with the 150, that I just crept up on.

Its really hit and miss, I am another Raynox user, only the DCR-250 on a 70-300 zoom with a cheapo flash diffuser for the on board flash. Just wander around the garden and something is willing to pose for you, eventually :)

Similar creature but closer up, lens about three inches from her nose I am really just a beginner although I have had the raynox for two years, it wasn't as effective on my bridge camera so I waited until I got a DSLR. Clips on the end of just about any lens and is cheap enough to have a go at macro.

Dave that's a lovely colourful image, may have to look at a 150 to.
