ive been looking through the forums and got myself a little muddled. (not hard to do!) Ive recently bought a canon 500d and a 100mm usm macro lens as i want to take pictures of my stick insects and other bugs. Im looking into lighting and have decided to purchase a cheap light tent for working at home which with to lamps should be fine. however if im out in the field this goes out the window. Im not keen on the ring flash due to the reflection you get in eyes so was looking at the canon twin flash but its out of my price range. It was sujested that i grab a 430 ii and that its use would be better as i can use it for other types of pictures. Ive been reading the reports on the differences between the 430ii and the 580ii but would like a recomendation. Is the 580 ii going to be too powerful for macro? ive also been looking at an off shoe bracket for it and would want to aim light at the subject (using diffuser)but most brackets look like they only allow flash to be aimed either straight ahead or down. do they make them with a ball socket at the flash end? or someone point me in the right direction please. Maybe im not sure what im needing!
thanks.
