Brought a Canon 100mm macro lens a few months ago and really haven't had the opportunity to get the most out of it due to lighting.

I don't really know what I need, something not too expensive but also good enough to get me some decent pictures.

I saw a review on a lighting ring that would fit my canon 1100d and lens a 48Led ring around the price mark of £30 :O

Take a look at this:-

72 LED worklight - cheap as chips. You could get 2 or 3. Need to be a little inventive getting them into position, but they would allow you to vary the light direction.

I have them for standy lighting. They are very bright.

Thank you for replying! That is a good idea :) So realistically would I need a few?

I would go for 3. That would permit lighting from each side and also below or sometimes from behind if the subject has transparency like a flower.

If you are working on a table they will stand end, but a little bit blue tack would help. They also have magnets on the back.
As a bonus they are as handy as a torch around the house
