Macro lenses?

Hi,
im looking for a canon 50mm f2.5 macro lens,
does anyone know where I can get one?
Im hoping to find one about £100 second hand,
(my mum doesnt like me spending lots of money on camera stuff)
the cheepest one I can find online is £219.95 new.
is there anywhere selling them for less?

Personally I'd go for the Sigma 50mm macro lens as this is a true 1-1 macro lens, where the Canon 50mm is not and it's probably slightly cheaper aswell.

My daughter uses the Sigma and gets very good results with it

The only macro lens I ever saw sell for around £100 is the Cosina 100mm, if you can find one.

Another option for around that amount is the Canon 50mm FD lens with an FD to EOS converter. You lose infinity focus but it is a very sharp lens, I am using one sometimes for close ups.

The Cosina was my first macro lens. It is an 0.5 macro lens with an adapter for 1:1 magnification. Mine was very sharp and I took some of my best photos with it.
Build quality is not as good as the more expensive models but optics are great (some call it the plastic fantastic!).

I aggree.

I have the older non DG model and works on my 50D & 7D but not 400D.
Its a great lens and gives fantastic results. Got mine for well under the £100 as it was well used and has some ware. Works well though. Not often come up so keep a eye out. eBay & the various second hand camera shops.
