Hi all

Thanks for the help choosing the camera, going for the Fuji s5pro

We need to photograph some jewelery so will be getting a light tent for this.

Could someone please tell me if this lens would suffice or if I'm going to need a separate macro lens?
this is the one I'm getting with the camera:
Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (Nikon AF)

Cheers

Mike :)

I tried that lens when I was looking for a 18-200 and I found the nikon to be better. I know it is a little more expensive but I found the AF quicker and it felt a better lens.

I think you would be better of in getting a dedicated macro lens if you are going to be doing close ups of jewelry, have a look at the Tamron 90mm 2.8. I have been very pleased with mine.

regards

Nigel.

A normal and cheap 50mm 1.8 lens coupled with kenko tubes will also do the job.
But if you really like the sigma OS, get it from cameras2u .
They are (?) owned by Jessops but cheaper.

Thats because you're not comparing like with like. Jessops prices are for new products; Cameras2U only sell refurbished products these days.

Cam2u also sell brand new items not just refurbs. Jessops even sell returned lenses as brand new ???
