macro lens

What's spending out and real world to you. I love my 100mm L IS macro, but I'm not sure where the best part of £700 lies in real world/spending out. Alternatively, the optics on the non-L 100mm macro ate less than £400 are supposed to be pretty close.

Tamron 90mm, Canon 100mm, Siggy 105mm, Siggy 150mm... lots of choices.

I went for the Siggy 150mm f2.8. I think it's a good lens although the auto focus seems to be pretty useless (par for the course with some macro lenses) but that doesn't bother me as I focus manually anyway. Other than that and the fact that it's quite big I think it's great.

A lot depends on what you want it for subject wise, I use a Sigma 105mm
and it does me as you'll tell if you look at my flickr link. But I'd be strongly tempted to go for the Tamron 90mm.

As I say it all boils down to what you want to take pictures of just factor in the cost of needing a flash if you don't have one already and extension tubes if its bugs your after.
