I’d like a macro lens for my Nikon d750, but not sure which on I should buy.

Anyone got any advice on which I should go for.

Thanks.

Since a macro lens is commonly used with manual focussing, you could consider a film era lens that has the Nikon Ai (or Ai-s) mount? Examples being the Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 and the Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 ... both widely available used.

the sigma 105 is sound

researched the same years ago - I went for tamron sp90 and now I have the latest version using it on a d500

the af in afc for twitchy things on that combo is effective down to 1:1.

I had the Sigma 105mm OS HSM for my D750 and couldn’t fault it.

I have the Nikon 105mm f2.8 G AF-S VR IF ED Micro Nikkor Lens, it's fine, maybe a bit pricely for you but you can get a used one for around £400.

I had the sigma 105mm macro lens, and it produced some very good images.

Have since sold it, in favour of the Irix 150mm f2.8 Dragonfly.

I wanted more reach without disturbing the dragonflies , butterflies etc.

Since all my macro was done in manual focus, the auto focus on the sigma just wasn't used for macro.

The Irix is a better lens in my opinion, but the sigma performs very well.
