Hi all As a new poster to this site i am going to ask what i am sure will turn out to be a really dumb question, please bare with me, would it be possible to connect and use a set of extension tubes with a Tamron 70-300 macro lens as it only give 1.2 magnification , and i am looking for ,1.1 and possibly better
as i said ,ithis may be a dumb question , but if it is, would you please let me
have your ideas for alternatives, working on the premise, that i am Cheap"!"
and dont like to spend a lot:cool:
Thanks in anticipation..

For your lens, a Raynox DCR 250 would work better than tubes. Tubes work better on shorter focal lengths and are more expensive if you want to keep AF and (more importantly) aperture control.

John, go for the Raynox DCR250, it'll work well with that lens, it clips to filter threads from 49mm to 67mm from memory, so as long as the filter threads are in that range.

The Raynox 250 would be good, but you might want to consider the Raynox 150. It costs the same as the 250, and is less powerful and easier to use than the 250, and gives you a greater "working distance" between the lens and the subject - it really depends what size of subject you want to photograph. If you want to get as close up as possible, use the 250. (I use both, and also a Canon 500D close-up lens, which is less powerful again than the Raynox 150, but unfortunately is rather more expensive.)

If you want to get really, really close up you could use the Raynox MSN202, but I would advise strongly against starting with that. It is very powerful, but gives you a tiny working distance and would probably be really hard to use.

As the magnification increases you may find that it becomes increasingly beneficial (or even necessary) to use flash. You can buy dedicated macro ("ring" and "twin light") flash units, but they tend to be rather expensive. Many people use their on-board flash or an ordinary external flash unit for macro work. If you do use flash you will need to work out some method of diffusing or reflecting the light from the flash. People have worked out a huge variety of DIY setups for diffusing flash for macro work. Before spending any money I suggest studying all six pages of this Show us your macro rig thread to get lots of ideas and options.

First i would like to thank all of you that have replied, it looks like the Raynox is the

way to go at this time, just a point, i dont think i explained clearly, what i was wandering

was? if i attach the Raynox to the Tamron? would i be able to use it in Macro -mode, and

would it give me increased magnification??

Jonalan..
