Hi new to all this just got myself the EFS 55-250mm and it is great. Now want to do some close ups. Looking at the CANON 60MM EF-S F2.8 USM MACRO but expensive anybody offer a cheaper alternative or used the 250D or 500D close up lens which you put onto your lens? Any guidance gratefully appreciated.

I like the shot with the reversed 18-55, is it reversed straight onto the body? If so, what sort of magnification and working distance does it give you if you don't mind me asking?

Awesome, what do you mean reversing. I also have the std efs 18-55mm lens.

It was reversed straight on the body via a £2 ebay adapter ;) If i remember right it was f/8 @18mm, about 3x magnification, working distance is about 6"@55mm and about 1.5"@18mm (measured from the end of the lens)

Depends on what you want to photo, but if you are wanting a Macro lens, then the Sigma 50mm Macro F2.8 is a cracker and worth a look at...

If you are looking at bugs etc, I think you'd be better off with 100mm minimum
