Macro extention tubes

Can anyone recommend any extention tubes that will compliment my Nikon macro 105mm lens? I want to get in very very close
 
Just get the cheapest tubes with the electronic connectors, that you can find. AF is handy to get the lens close to focussed and you need aperture control.
I got some that look identical to Kenko for about 15 on Fleabay. They have no optics and so a cheap set us likely as good as a £100 set.
 
Ive read some good reports about the Kenko tubes, but for £140 they are a bit out of my price range as ive had a bit of a spend up recently on other camera stuff.

BUT ... if they are far better than the cheaper ones, then it will be worth waiting for it ...
 
Better look into this a bit more indepth. I dont want to end up with rubbish, then have to go out and replace and end up spending more. learnt the hard way, so maybe its best to save and get the Kenko

Buying extension tubes isn't as tough a decision as buying lenses. There are no optics in extension tubes, all they do is move the lens further away from the camera body, in turn reducing its minimum focus distance (MFD). Canon air is no better than Kenko air - but some tubes have no electrical contacts so you have to do everything with the lens manually. These will be a lot cheaper than chipped tubes.

The main difference between the Kenko tubes and the cheap ones will be the contacts that the Kenkos have which will retain AF and TTL auto exposure. Otherwise they've got the same air in them! So if you dont need AF the cheap ones will be fine, maybe just not so well built.

I don't have the exact ones in the link I posted, but I have bought similarly priced ones from eBay and they've all been fine. I wouldn't have any hesitation in buying the ones in the link instead of Kenko or Canon ones.
 
Ok ... ive gone for the cheap ones just to try out. I cant really go wrong with £8. Thank you for all your advice and if i dont get on with these, i will have to go for the dearer ones
